Non Destructive Concrete Testing

Non Destructive Concrete Testing

(OP)
Does anyone have an estimated cost to have non destructive testing done on a concrete slab? Probably rebound hammer test and ultra sonic testing.

RE: Non Destructive Concrete Testing

Careful about the use of a rebound hammer... They have to be calibrated fairly often against a known strength.

That said: Never knew you could get one so cheaply!

I am looking for a round about number on what people charge for this type of work.

RE: Non Destructive Concrete Testing

Varies very heavily... I've seen everything from $25 to $150 per spot, always with a minimum charge and a kilometric rate or flat call out fee added.

RE: Non Destructive Concrete Testing

While I was joking with the hammer on a serious note CEL is right, they do require periodic calibration and can give misleading results if used without training or experience. For example, a strike on aggregate or on the finished surface of old concrete can give VERY high numbers that are not representative of the real strength.

Maine EIT, Civil/Structural.

RE: Non Destructive Concrete Testing

The best bet for finding cost information is to call up somebody in your area who actually performs this service and get an estimate. There are too many variables involved for somebody here to give you an accurate range.
