cvn testing AWS D1.1 5G position

(OP)
My question pertains to cvn testing of a 5G position pqr weld. is it required to take cvn test specimens from each quarter of the test weld i.e. one set of wm, FL +1mm & FL +5mm from the top quadrant, side and bottom quadrant? Our client is insisting that this needs to be done to qualify the wps for Flat, Over Head and Vertical welding, in this case up hill. I don't see any requirement in D1.1 that requires this. The pqr coupon is 8 5/8" x 0.500" API 5L X65/X65 and X65 to A572/50 rolled plate.

Thanks.

RE: cvn testing AWS D1.1 5G position

cjgrass,
Test locations are as shown in Figure 4.7 - testing in the vertical position is all that is required.
Regards,
DD
