SE V18 .tmp file problem

SE V18 .tmp file problem

SE V18 .tmp file problem

(OP)
Using SE V18.

When modeling assemblies if trying to save, a "file could not be found" window will pop up and the file to be saved will disappear in the directory. In it's place will be a .tmp file. If I rename the .tmp file to the correct file name and extension I can work on the file again.

This is on an older dell XP laptop that is not networked. Looking for some assistance as to why this is happening.

Thanks

RE: SE V18 .tmp file problem

Hmm, I used to have similar happen when the network crashed while I had the file open - however, since you don't have the network issue that's probably not it.

Could it be something else to do with the hard drive you are working from, perhaps a background task interrupting things?

RE: SE V18 .tmp file problem

As Kenat suggests "a background task interrupting things". Look at your anti-virus settings. Your AV may be incorrectly flagging and removing/quarantining the SE files.

I have also thought it has to do with the AV settings, but I have not been able to figure out how to tell McAfee how to bypass SE files.

I was just wondering if anybody else ever saw this when not on a network.
