Flip dimension text (vertical dimension)

Flip dimension text (vertical dimension)

Flip dimension text (vertical dimension)

(OP)
I'm placing a vertical dimension in a drafting view. By default, this dimension flips to the left side of the dimension line. For practical reasons, I would like to position the digit on the other side of the dimension line (in this case the right side).

How can I change this once the dimension has been placed or is there a way to do this while the command is still active (so during placement)? Does the order in which I select the geometry have any influence on this behavior?

Regards!

RE: Flip dimension text (vertical dimension)

Can you provide a picture showing what it is that you're seeing and what it is that you'd like to see?

Also what version of NX are you using?

RE: Flip dimension text (vertical dimension)

There is no way to change this as the standard is that for vertical dimensions, the text is on the left of the dimension line, just like with horizontal dimensions, the text is above the dimension line. If you concern is that the dimension text was placed where it would be hard to read then I would recommend that you place it one of the side of the extensions lines or the other, as I've done here:

There is another little option that can be used on dim's like this one, even if it won't flip the reading direction.
RMB the dimension- Style- Dimensions tab - then the lowest area : "Narrow" were you can select different options for "narrow dimensions".
When / if you have selected the desired mode, Hit OK on the Style dialog , then press the Shift Key at the same time as dragging the dimension)
note that if you shift -drag the text back onto the dimension line, the "narrow mode" will be set to "off".

OK, thanks for the answers!

RE: Flip dimension text (vertical dimension)

Hi Riechi,
You can flip the dimension text to use the function "Edit/ Move Object" select the text and then use “Rotate about ZC axis” and turn it with 180 degree.
But it’s an illegal method you will not find it in the doku…
