PE Exam Review Courses

PE Exam Review Courses

PE Exam Review Courses

(OP)
I plan on taking the PE in October and have been studying for the past month or so on my own and will continue to do so, but my company offers to pay for a review course, so I'd be stupid not to take them up on it.

Do y'all have any suggestions on which course to take? Have you taken one? If so, what was your experience with it?

Thanks

RE: PE Exam Review Courses

My company pays for one pair of steel-toed boots every year. My current 2.5 year old pair is still doing fine.

They also will buy me dinner and drink(s) when I am away from the home office, but I usually only expense for the food and pay for my own drinks.

Now that my side tangent is out of the way...if you want to take the review course because it will benefit you, and not because it is a freebie from your office, then a little bit more information would be helpful:

1) Are you looking for online or classroom learning?
2) What metro area are you in (some local people may have a very specific class to recommend)?
3) I am guessing the civil pe + structural depth?

I am also studying for the October 2014 test. Good luck

Yes, I believe the review course will help. I am up for either classroom or online. I currently work around Baton Rouge La and I have seen some sites that offer classroom training around here. Yes, civil Pe with structural depth.

RE: PE Exam Review Courses

School of PE offers great review for the Morning section, other recommendations depend on the afternoon module you plan on taking.

RE: PE Exam Review Courses

I took the course through School of PE and honestly did not feel that it helped that much. The binder of info was useful for the example problems but the best advice I can give is to do as many practive problems and you can. As I did mine, I created an index of each problem so when I got a similar one on the test, I knew where to look. Other good piece of advice is to know your reference material so you know where to look.

Ditto with blg923's input.

RE: PE Exam Review Courses

A review course is recommended as it can provide extra exposure to practice problems and lectures. It can be offered through an engineering society on a weekend or through live webinars. Typically, the program is separated into several sessions, each covering a core topic. Experts (licensed engineers or academic faculty) provide first-hand knowledge of the PE exam material and a comprehensive binder of course notes that can be used during the exam. During the program, past exam questions are provided, along with the opportunity to meet peers who are also studying for the exam.

Good luck.
