[Help] Weld and Bolt APDL

[Help] Weld and Bolt APDL

(OP)
Hi,

I need to join together two parts(shell element) by either "bolts" or welding. The "bolts" dont have any thead, are hust there from keeping the two parts from sliding. The weld is kind of a fillet welding chord

How can i simulate the weld and the bolt.

Im modeling this: http://senzostudios.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07...

Im using Mechanical APDL.

Thank you

RE: [Help] Weld and Bolt APDL

Hello Fabio,

if you are intrested in the behaviour of the hole structure (not of the single bold or weld) I think you can connect the rectangular pipes by using contact elements with the option penalty bonded.

What is the result that you want to compute? Is it statical deformation?

Right now I'm searching for some new use cases for the Meshparts software. I think your flat bench would be well suited for a demo. The result would be an Ansys model that was created parametrically with Meshparts. Are you intrested? You can have the Ansys model of course.

Best regards
Alex
