ansys parametric scripting help

ansys parametric scripting help

(OP)
Hello,

I want to write a parametric script for ansys in python. I am new to Ansys, but have programming experience.
I need some instructions as to where i can start. Ansys scripting manual is one. I have found out that Workbench is the only place (other being cmd) from where i can run my .py scripts and communicate with Ansys using Object oriented language. Will i be able to generate .db files with this process ? Or is there any other place to run .py files. I would be doing a Ansys structural analysis.

My questions may seem disconnected. But if anyone can explain me the starting process, i shall be grateful.

Thanks again.
