Dear all,

I would like to know how to distinguish when a heat exchanger is designed by using a spot, full or 100% radiography. Depending on which kind of test method used a different E joint coeficient is chosen.

Once I have had a look to standards I think that you can choose the method that you prefer, and that will change some parameters (thickness...)

You need to choose RT based on service conditions, customer specifications, and the Code rules for the material and thicknesses that you are working to.

But, if the Code does not dictate due to the service, material or thickness, and / or customer does not dictate, then it is your choice. You trade off material thickness against radiography.
