S stamping

S stamping

S stamping

(OP)
What exactly is S stamping?
A component is manufactured. (It is a part of piping, which will be installed at site.)
What all things are to be done to get it S stamped.

RE: S stamping

The S-stamp actually refers to an ASME Certificate of Authorization to design and fabricate boiler pressure parts under the rules of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section I. When the boiler pressure parts are completed, the fabricated parts are stamped using an ASME code symbol stamp indicating the pressure parts comply with the requirements of ASME Section I.

who stamps the s stamp and where on the component?
I have seen that.. i think it is pg-106.
that stamp talks about boiler maximum allowable working pressure, heat transfer area etc and seems to be for a full boiler assy
in my case, boiler components are to be shipped part by part..
then what shall i affix as s stamp and where on the componet?
what details, the stamp should have then

can u send a sample s stamp pic..

Please refer to Section I and your Authorized Inspector. They can guide you.

RE: S stamping

we dont have a AI here.. we are going to supply the component abroad.. hence only i am asking..
i believe we can supply component without S stamp also.. but then what is the specific use of S stamp?
i have seen vessels (fire tube boilers totally manf and assembled in shops) with s stamps.
but if i am sending it part by part, how will i do it

RE: S stamping

My recommendation is to stay out of supplying boiler pressure parts because without an S-Stamp you will have a problem. You need to understand what is required, and this is not the place.

RE: S stamping

You have seen firetube MFD totally in shop. Parts stamped are like several of the boilers stamped and put together in the field. An S stamp shop, a boiler mfr can mfr boilers and parts and is the one you should contract to mfr your boiler and boiler parts.
