Nidec Sole ele motor questions

Nidec Sole ele motor questions

Nidec Sole ele motor questions

(OP)
I found several Nidec and Sole websites. None responded to my
questions. I did find a few dealers, who responded, but dont have answers to
my questions. These dealers suggested several of the Sole and Nidec sites
and they dont know why I get no response from the sites.

I want to get a wiring diagram for this Sole Ele Mtr that i have. Id also
like to know the torque and HP, which are not listed on the mtr label.

Mtr Label:
type 20584.075
115vac 50/60hz
116190223
584094.0
DC-EL CL.a
600/12,000 rpm
MU3-2
3-5-w
P2020
11.04
made in Italy

I've searched the internet and found nothing that helps.

This came out of a Equator clothes washer/dryer combo unit.

Can anyone help me on this?

tx,
pa

RE: Nidec Sole ele motor questions

That looks to be an OEM motor. Sole may have made it, but the design specifications are likely proprietary to the OEM customer they made it for. i5t's very common for appliance motors.

so, its an anchor? There are too many wires coming out of it for me to experiment.

RE: Nidec Sole ele motor questions

Do you know what it came out of so you can contact the OEM for information?

The appliance may have a wiring diagram. Many do.

RE: Nidec Sole ele motor questions

A quick search shows that some Equator Washer/Dryer unit have a DC motor and some a multi speed AC motor. There may be a fairly sophisticated speed controller with the original machine.
Try searching "Equator washer dryer" and "appliance parts".

Ive seen that info. Mine is two speed 115VAC. I can most likely take it apart and figure out the wiring, but both windings use 115 or a lower voltage was used for the lower rpm. I dont have a variable AC power source. Anyway, just hoping someone around here knows something about Sole mtrs or maybe even works there or...

Also, unless this is at least 3/4 better yet 1hp, its of no use.

RE: Nidec Sole ele motor questions

Anchors away!! Not a DC motor, no speed controller to make and change the connections, less than 3/4 HP. It probably needs capacitors also.

no caps, unless they are inside the mtr.

RE: Nidec Sole ele motor questions

These things are an absolute pig to re-use. It's not worth the pain. Buy an industrial motor off ebay with a proper terminal box, flange or foot mounting.

Here's a typical example of an older scheme, but there are numerous variants on a theme. Many new ones use tiny motors running at very high speed from an inverter to produce significant power outputs, but I don't think you have one of those.

RE: Nidec Sole ele motor questions

It looks like an armature and fields motor.
Its basically series connected via the plug leads to the machine.
Trace the wires, you should have two armature leads and two field leads.
Warning:If you run it out of the machine,it will overspeed with no load.
Connect armature and field lead together.
Supply the other armature and field lead with voltage.
To reverse,change over armature leads.
Be careful.
