Omission of Sprinklers in new construction within existing building.
Omission of Sprinklers in new construction within existing building.
(OP)
There is a college campus (single building with large area) fully protected with sprinkler system. The building has some open spaces (with some tress and plants) where new construction is required. The new construction will be for offices, activity hall, assembly hall etc. How the fire protection system will be designed in these new buildings? For example, new office building is not required to have sprinkler system as per IBC only if i consider that to be a separate new building. Am I doing it right or do I have to consider it to be a part of existing building and provide it with sprinklers. Please help.

It sounds like the new additions are going to make the building a mixed occupancy, adding assembly, business, and possibly other to the building.
I would recommend sprinklers in the new additions.

And I do NOT think this is project, as presented, is candidate for IBC Chapter 34.
