Hi,
I can weld the B729 N08020 with the filler metal ENiCrMo-3?
In the analysis of the chemical composition which composition must be taken into consideration, that of the filler metal or the base material?
Thank you all.
Emilio A.

RE: B729 N08020 - Chemical analysis and filler metal

Yes. It is often done. You may also use E/ER320LR.

Hello weldstan,
Thanks for your cooperation.
If I welding the B729 N08020 with the filler metal ENiCrMo-3, which chemical composition can I expect when I do the PMI (Positive Material Identification)?
The Code Project is ASME B31.3.

Grazie,
Emilio A.

Closer to the ENiCrMo-3, but not the same depending on dilution which will be a factor of thickness of materials welded, joint design and welding heat input.

Thank you...
So for example the following composition in weld areas may be acceptable:

Cr = 19.490
Ni = 43.570
Mo = 6.828
Nb = 2.411
Fe = 23.500

There is a reference in the Code governing these limits?

Thanks,
Emilio A.

RE: B729 N08020 - Chemical analysis and filler metal

It could be. There is no Code requirement for the weld metal analysis other than successful qualification of the WPS with an F43 filler metal.
