Pipeline over Muskeg

Pipeline over Muskeg

Pipeline over Muskeg

(OP)
We have a 30 inch pipe in a trench base between 5 & 6 m deep for a stretch approximately 300 m in length. Muskeg encounter at around 4.5 m ( i.e 0.5 to 1 m above design elevation). The area above the pipe is supposed to be a lay-down with light or moderate traffic. The area had been under regular traffic for over 6 month (i.e short term consolidation).

Please advise of what is the best recommendation to stabilize the base of the trench.

RE: Pipeline over Muskeg

How thick is the muskeg? Is it amorphous or fibrous? What is above the muskeg as you indicate it is 4.5 m deep - a fill? Some important questions to consider.

RE: Pipeline over Muskeg

(OP)
The muskeg thickness between 0.5 to 1.5 m, It is fibrous muskeg. Sand some gravel used to be above the muskeg for more than 6 month.

Thanks BigH!
