Pup joint etymology?

(OP)
Where does the word Pup come from?

RE: Pup joint etymology?

Nobody knows.

prognosis: Lead or Lag

RE: Pup joint etymology?

Pup? How about etymology?

Pup is a derivation from a mother pipe.

I hate Windowz 8!!!!

RE: Pup joint etymology?

Ha ha. Indeed, it does come from the mother pipe..

RE: Pup joint etymology?

The word etymology is derived from the Greek word ἐτυμολογία, etymologia, itself from ἔτυμον, etymon, meaning "true sense" and the suffix -logia, denoting "the study of".[1][2]

RE: Pup joint etymology?

You might as well ask when does the pup grow up and become a fully grown piece of pipe??

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

RE: Pup joint etymology?

I think could be real close. How about just a little vocal adulteration of a "plain end pipe" ( pep ), basically all plain end(s) without enough length to be called a real pipe?
