Computer spec for LS-DYNA simulations?

Computer spec for LS-DYNA simulations?

Computer spec for LS-DYNA simulations?

(OP)
My Workplace is planning on investing in a LS-DYNA license and together with that, a dedicated computer that will run the computations.
What kind of processors/ram configurations are recommended for LS-DYNA computations?
Could someone point me in the right direction?

RE: Computer spec for LS-DYNA simulations?

Ask the license vendor to give you advices on hardware. This will depend on what you're planning to simulate.

RE: Computer spec for LS-DYNA simulations?

LSTC sells licenses based on CPUs so unless you plan on buying more than one license, you really don't need anything more than one core. 64 bit machine is a must in my opinion. Ram-just get as much as you can but I would say 4gb or so. It really depends on what you are using it for. I have used it for million plus element runs as well as discrete spring runs which can solve in a few seconds. Also keep in mind element size is just as critical for the explicit solver as #/type of elements. A 10 element model can run for 2 months if you don't know what you are doing.
