thread561-348056: What is NX Manager?

We are looking to go with nx manager.
If you recently installed it. How is it going? Are you planning to go to full Teamcenter? Does NX manager do enough for you? We only want to manage nx files, and will wait for workflow's and other file types until our new ERP system is selected and installed. Any info about NX manager is appreciated, since their is so little available.

RE: nx manager

Well, installation went OK, there was no problem. Only, at the beggining we didn't know, that only NX Mach product was not enough. For actual installation, we needed also one additional TC deployment license, which is free. So all in all, there was no problem.
At the installation, we defined the following:
1. users, that are involved in working with managed NX
2. Access rights for those users. So that not everyone is allowed to change, what others do.
3. well defined attributes in NX.
4. create a mapping of attributes between NX and NX Manager. Values for some attributes can be written in NX only, some in NX Manager only and some in both.
5. defined was also, which attributes from NX will be mapped into NX Manager. Not every NX attribute is needed in NX Manager.
6. also the query parameters were defined. So that users can search for parts in NX Manager by attributes.
At the moment, all users are happy. There is not much difference in daily work compared to how the work was done before.

At the moment, there is no talk about moving to Teamcenter, since the NX Manager was put into use just recently. But I guess that sometime in (near?) future, there will be such a move. So, that also others can be connected to the same database and use the data, that they need (visualization, getting some engineering data without having to know NX, etc.). But this is up to other departments in the company to see the benefit of working with this database. What is important at the moment is, that the engineers are happy. smile

RE: nx manager

nx manager is a good start with Teamcenter,
with options to scale with worklows and othe TC options when needed to the requirement of your company.

RE: nx manager

SvenBom,

I am trying to prepare to do the same thing you just did but have been unable to locate documents on where to start the process
