I’m thinking about attending PLM World’s Siemens PLM Connection.

Is there any user that’s been before? Would you recommend it?

RE: PLM WorldÆs Siemens PLM Connection

YES

Great for meeting others who are in the same business as you and getting ideas for how NX can be enhanced and automated.
You also get to see the famous John Baker Show of what is new in the upcoming release!

Awesome! thanks for the response.

Will NX 8.0 be touched on much? Its my understanding we won't update to NX 9.0 until later on in the year

RE: PLM WorldÆs Siemens PLM Connection

I can't speak for any of the users who will be presenting there, but I can guess that some of them may be talking about how they're using various versions of NX including NX 8.0.

However, for the presentations being given by Siemens PLM people like myself, it will be primarily covering NX 9.0.2.x with a bit of a look under-the-covers at NX 10.0. As for the training sessions given during the conference, I suspect that they will all be using NX 9.0.1.3 since that will be the official release of NX at the time (well not exactly but NX 9.0.2.x will have only been available a couple of weeks, so...) and generally speaking that's the release used by the people giving the classes.

Its my understanding that we will be updating from NX 8.0 to NX 9.0 in October or November so it shouldn’t be a big deal to go ahead and check it out.

RE: PLM WorldÆs Siemens PLM Connection

One of the main purposes of the PLM Connections (AKA PLM World) is to give people a 'look forward' so that they can make rational decisions about how they might proceed with their future upgrade plans. And keep in mind that while some of us would like to think that this event is primarily a showcase for NX, virtually all of the products form Siemens PLM Software, as well as many of our partners, will be on display there with presentations, demos and in many cases, free, albeit brief, training sessions.

Now this is not to diminish the value and usefulness of the many presentations given by users just like yourselves showing how they're using the various Siemens and partner products in their own day-to-day world. And of course, as mentioned, this is a great place to network and get answers to what might turn out to be 'hallway' questions from people who have already been down that road and is willing to share their experiences in something less formal than a stand-up presentation. One should never miss these spontaneous and unplanned situations as often it's there that you'll really end-up paying for your trip to PLM Connections.

And of course there is that so-called 'John Baker Show' 2thumbsup
