Our requirement for on-going project is that we externally coat 30m of 304/304L dual grade buried stainless steel pipe with an anti-corrosion coating for corrosion protection. The design temperature range is from -80˚C to 65˚C. Please suggest an external coating for stainless steel which can sustain such temperature range.

RE: buried SS pipeline coating

You can use phenolic epoxy coating. It withstands temperatures nearing 200 degC.

I have specified it for the external surface of liquid sulphur tank bottom plates where the operating temperture is 140 degC.

but my concern is if it can also sustain temperatures of -80˚C ??

RE: buried SS pipeline coating

There are numerous types of phenolic epoxy coatings. Search for PPG's interactive catalogue online and read about the temperature limitations.
