Exact representation in NX8.5

Exact representation in NX8.5

(OP)
Hi, i have two problem in drafting (NX8.5 MR3 MP01). By using "Exact representation" View Style / General get two bug. See video.

If use "Exact (Pre-NX 8.5)" option, so it's okay. Especially error displayed in the second movie caused the problem in our company.
Thanks for reply.

Neither of those links work.

Without the actual part file(s) there is nothing that can be done.

I can't reproduce the problem with the dimensions to the Point. No matter what type of view, it always dimensions correctly. However, the Angle does behave as you've indicated, different depending on whether it's exact or pre-NX 8.5 exact. I'll have to show it to someone in the Drafting group and we'll see what they have to say.

I just checked NX 9.0 (well as least NX 9.0.2.2) and now the Angular dimension works as expected. Tomorrow I'll have access to NX 9.0.0 and NX 9.0.1 and I'll retest this. But whatever I learn, it appears that whatever was the problem someone has fixed it.

Thanks John, problem with dimesion point (with Exact view) also have others users in our group. I do not know what the problem is. We will use yet "Pre-NX8.5" otion as default.

NX 8.5.3.3

RE: Exact representation in NX8.5

OK, I've verified that this now works correctly in both NX 9.0.0 and NX 9.0.1, so 'officially', this problem has been resolved.

This problem will be corrected in the NX8.5?

NX 8.5.3.3

RE: Exact representation in NX8.5

If it hasn't already, I doubt it. We're getting down to where only critical fixes will be considered, so if it's not already in the pipeline, I wouldn't hold my breath.

RE: Exact representation in NX8.5

I can confirm that it is not solved in NX8.5.3.3 MP1.

I sure do hope that the Exact type views will be performing up to standard in NX9. Because the state where they are in now the functionality shouldn't have been released.
I also do hope the fix will be backported as issues like these can cause huge production problems for manufacturers who are still working off the drawings...
In the examples used in this thread it is very clear to see that the dimensioning is wrong because of the large differences used.
But when there is only a small difference in change, then it's harder (if not impossible) to see it.

RE: Exact representation in NX8.5

Unless a significant number of NX 8.5 users quickly contact GTAC and have them open PR's which they are able to get the priority recorded as 'Critical', a fix will likely not be back-ported to NX 8.5. After all, NX 9.0 has been out for 6 months now, NX 10.0 could be released before the end of the year and NX 8.5 is already moving to a critical maintenance only status.
