crushed rock footings for 2500kW screw compressors
crushed rock footings for 2500kW screw compressors
(OP)
Hello,
I am involved in the design of foundations of screw compressors of 2500kW (3400 hp). One of the alternatives for screw compressors, because of their lower vibration levels compared to reciprocating, is compacted crushed rock instead of concrete. Screw compressors do not need the huge hold down bolts required by recips. They are just laid down directly on ground with minimal preparation. Does anyone have any experience in this sort of thing? I cannot find anything on the internet.
