Create Helix on a Bent Tube
Create Helix on a Bent Tube
(OP)
Hi,
I need to draw a helix on the OD of a bent tube. In the end I need a cooling line that spirals around the OD of the bent tube.
Can I do this with NX?
Thank you
John

RE: Create Helix on a Bent Tube
Part was creted in Nx7.5.

Yes similar to that only I need to make mine follow a 90 degree bend.
Could you let me know how you did that?
Thank you
John
RE: Create Helix on a Bent Tube
Here is how my model was done:
1. sketch 000 represents the guide curve for the tube
2. sketch 001 is drawn on the plane, that is placed on the curve with 'normal to path' option. In this sketch, there is only one line.
3. in swept command, select this one line as Section. And select the bend curve as guide curve. Than change the Orientation Method to Angular Law. Select also Linear option for Law Type. Start angle is 0, end angle is 360*20. This means, that there will be 20 rotations around this guide curve.
4. click OK and swept surface is created.
5. now, you can create a curve from the edge of the surface as I did (composite curve). But it is not necessary. You can just place the new tube on this edge.
I hope that this description will help.
