JT Files for part family members

I have created part family in NX integrated with teamcenter. How to add JT (Direct model) files to the family memebrs?

RE: JT Files for part family members

Do you mean that you want a set of external JT files, one of for each member of a Part Family? I'm asking this because I'm not sure what you meant by the question: "How to add JT (Direct model) files to the family memebrs?"

yes John you are correct. I want add JT files to each family members. They should appear in Item revision next to UG model dataset.

RE: JT Files for part family members

When you say 'yes', what are you saying 'yes' to? And if your second comment is what you're really attempting to do, I must ask you what exactly is it that you think this will do for you? In other words, for what purpose is this?

I said ‘yes’ because want to set of external JT files for each family members. Adding JT files to the family members is wish list suppose the engineer wants to see the hardware how it looks without opening NX it can be viewed in Teamcenter.
Purpose is:
1. To see the preview of member in TCE without opening NX.
2. In case if only JT file is created only for Template part, whenever engineer search particular family member in Teamcenter will not able to see preview in JT preview window.

RE: JT Files for part family members

If you set the...

File -> Options -> Save Options...

...so that the option to 'Save JT Data' is toggled ON, as you add a Part Family member to an Assembly, as the the family member is saved a JT version of the part family member will be created in the same location as the family member is found. At least that the way it works in Native Mode. I can't speak for how this would work in Teamcenter.

However, this idea that somehow you need to have a JT 'representation' inside a part file, that is not how NX works. While it is true that you can OPEN a .JT file as a .prt file, there is no way it 'import' a JT model into an existing Part file. Besides, if what you say is the reason for you even wanting JT's of the part family members in the first place, so that they can be previewed using the 3D visual tools of TC, having separate external copies is all that you need.

John, Toggled ‘ON’ save option 'save JT data' and saved the template part and updated family parts it created the JT files for both template and family parts. Thanks for your information
