Hole calout symbols

Hole calout symbols

Hole calout symbols

(OP)
Hi

We currently work to BS8888, and previously BS308, and I would like to know if there is anywhere that specifies the use of Hole Callout symbols, in preference to the tradition annotation (CSK, C/BORE, etc)? These symbols are readily available in most CAD packages, but I don not want to use if they are not covered by a relevant standard.

Regards
Martyn

RE: Hole calout symbols

BS8888 standard follows ISO 1101 in terms of GD&T/GPS symbology used on technical drawings. The latest big revision of ISO 1101, dated 2012, does not define specific symbols for counterbores (also spotfaces) and countersinks, so technically these symbols are not officially supported by ISO (thus probably also by BS, unless there is an exception I am not aware of.)

I have just downloaded BS 8888 2013 and the symbols are now specified for use.

RE: Hole calout symbols

Thanks for info, Martynw.
