hello Everyone,
I am modeling SDOF structure with embedded depth in the modified cam clay soil model. When acted by the horizontal force at the top of the structure (assuming it has fixed base period rather than assuming it to be rigid) , uplifting of foundation occurs and moment capacity is calculated.
1) I used Node - surface interaction with slave and master surfaces being soil model and embedded foundation. I don't know how to input clearance (GAP element) can anyone explain me regarding the clearance procedure in Node to Surface interaction.Also i defined tangential behavior to be penalty, i don't know exactly how to define normal behavior is it exponential overclosur pressure?
i am using Abaqus cae finite element program.
Brief description of my problem.
I have used Modified cam clay soil model and foundation being concrete with beam element attached to it. I basically created two parts soil and foundation and assembled into one geoemtry then i applied the geostatic step used to check the equilibrium of the soil element.
I calculated the bearing capacity of soil using analytical solution and checked using Abaqus.
I want to apply a horizontal force on the top of beam element so that foundation uplifting will occur and goal is to calculate the moment capacity of the foundation.
Also i defined vertical load = N/Nu where N is the vertical load applied on the top of the beam element including the weight of the foundation and Nu is the bearing capacity of the soil.
I am facing problem in defining the interaction in between soil and embedded foundation.
