Catia lacking performance

Catia lacking performance

Catia lacking performance

(OP)
Hello!

I recently upgraded from this computer:

HP Z400 Workstation 32bit Windows XP
Intel Xeon W3520 2.66 8MB/1066 QC CPU
3GB DDR3-1333 ECC RAM
NVIDIA Quadro FX1800, Graphics 768MB

to this computer:

Dell T1700 Workstation 64bit Windows 7
Intel Xeon CPU E3-1270 v3 @ 3,50GHz
16GB DDR3-1600 RAM
NVidia Quadro K2000, Graphics 2 GB

Although the new computer should be a lot more powerful than the old one, no real improvement is seen when working with CATIA V5 R21. When I open one assembly where a lot of aluminium profiles (drawn in 3D) and some motors and other usual machine elements have been used, then rotating the assembly is not smooth at all. For me it seems like 2 frames per second or something like that when fully zoomed out and rotated. There is no performance difference between the new and old computer so there has to be a problem related to Catia.

I have installed the new graphics drivers found from Dassault system certified workstation drivers webpage. http://media.3ds.com/support/certified_hardware/Wi...
These drivers did not do anything better. The settings is Catia display options are the same on both computers.

Does anybody have an idea why Catia is not using the full potential of the computer?

Thank you!

Urmas

RE: Catia lacking performance

have you tried using HP's Performance Advisor?

RE: Catia lacking performance

LOL
I completely misread that post.
Sorry.
I'm going to go get my firs cup of coffee and hit "reset" on the morning.
