Dear All,

Is it possible to have 52,000 PSI as the Yield Strength from sizes 50 - 150 mm Dia ? by either hot rolling or forging process.

Regards

RE: 316/L Round Bar - 52000 PSI

It is doubtful that the yield strength could be that high from hot rolling or forging. Cold drawing a hot-rolled bar about 10-20% should be able to routinely achieve that strength level:

It would need to be cold finished bar. It is actually a very small cold reduction to get to that strength.
Be warned that it may become slightly magnetic when you do this.
If you are ordering cold drawn bar it is important that you set a maximum strength and minimum required elongation so that you don't get material that is too strong.

Dear All,

Thanks for the information. The sizes in question are between 50 to 150 mm Dia . Upto 70 mm would be possible , but is there ant way to get the required yield strength for size between 75 to 150 mm Dia .

Regards

Nadeem
