Piperack overhead

Piperack overhead

Piperack overhead

(OP)
Dear Friends,

Is there any criteria for minimum over head height of the fist level of a piperack which there is no equipment and trench under it?

Best Regards,

RE: Piperack overhead

The minimum overhead clearance is based on the type of traffic that will need to pass under the rack.
Is it:
- None?
- Only People?
- Only small trucks?
- Low-Boy Cranes?
- Large Cranes?
- Other?

And the direction of that travel
Is it:
- Length wise?
- Crossing?

RE: Piperack overhead

Why do you need any clearance, if there is no equipment or walkway requirement.

If you are going to specify a clearance, why make it anything less than
7'-6"... for minimum standing, walking height headroom.

I hate Windowz 8!!!!

In some projects in some locations and routes, there is no traffic under the rack. Is it nessesary to provide a clearance for walkway or small crane passage for these routes?
I've seen in all of piping handbooks, specify minimum clearance under the rack without considering issues that Pennipiper mentioned.

RE: Piperack overhead

Brad,
You asked:"Is it nessesary to provide a clearance for walkway or small crane passage for these routes? "

As with almost everything in the layout and design of process plants, it depends! Depends on what?
Depends on:
- What is on this side of the rack and what is on the other side of the rack
- What are the local Codes
- What the Owner/Client says

prognosis: Lead or Lag
