Calculating standing residual voltage(3V0) for 59N protection

Calculating standing residual voltage(3V0) for 59N protection

Calculating standing residual voltage(3V0) for 59N protection

(OP)
Hi All,
I would be very interested to hear how other engineers/ utilities calculate the standing residual voltage or standing zero sequence voltage on a distribution network? I have been currently taking the approach of modelling an unbalance condition on 3 wire overhead line wood pole construction, resistive or reactive earthed at source only. I then measure the residual voltage for this unbalanced condition and set my 59N ( residual over voltage/ neutral voltage displacement ) threshold above this standing residual voltage.
I should also say that I verify the standing residual voltage as part of my on load commissioning test to verify my 59N threshold setting is suitable.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments,
Neil
