Does ENP coating on TMBV Balls is acceptable to NACE MR-0175/ISO 15156-Part2?

Does ENP coating on TMBV Balls is acceptable to NACE MR-0175/ISO 15156-Part2?

(OP)
Hi,

Iam a QC engineer at L&T, India.

We had used ASTM A105 Ball with ENP coating in our Trunnion Mounted Ball Valve (TMBV) and complied the valve to NACE MR-0175/ISO 15156 Part-2 for a project as this Material of construction(MOC) is a client requirement.

But Third Party Inspection Agency (TPIA) appointed by client doesn't accept this MOC and says that this is not acceptable to NACE MR-0175/ISO 15156 PART-2.

He says clause A.2.1.5 of NACE MR-0175/ISO 15156 Part-2 states that "Metallic coatings (electroplated and electroless plated), conversion coatings, plastic coatings and linings are not acceptable for preventing SSC".

We QC explained TPIA that this ENP coating on A105 ball is only to enhance the wear resistance and not to prevent SSC.

Hence we make a request, if any expert can advise us on this subject.

Thanks,
