nozzle pad installation

(OP)
Hello everybody, i just want to know if there are some requirements per ASME code in the installation of nozzle repad, if not, what is the standard practice on 2-piece pad installation?

RE: nozzle pad installation

Assuming you are designing to ASME VIII, Div 1 Design code - If the nozzle repad is made from 2 or more pieces & welded to together around the nozzle, you must apply an increased factor of safety to account for weaknesses caused by any additional joints. I think it has to be multiplied by 0.75 or something similar, but may vary depending on number of pieces... Check out ASME UG-37 (h) for further details
