ETABS Import Problem

ETABS Import Problem

ETABS Import Problem

(OP)
Did a quick search, couldn't find anything, so here's the problem I am having.

Just installed ETABS v13.1.3, but I can't import any dwg or dxf files, always end up getting a dialog box with this message,

"Can Not Open File c:\xxxx\xxxx\xxxx.dwg"

I'm running AutoCAD 2014 on Windows 7 (32 bit)

Any idea how I can fix this please?

Thanks in advance.

RE: ETABS Import Problem

Maybe it has something to do with the patch you've used. Try to export a dxf file to see what comes up.

RE: ETABS Import Problem

Having the exact same problem...

Any fixes guys?

RE: ETABS Import Problem

make sure the dwg/dxf file isn't opened in autocad

if it still wouldn't work, try reinstall autocad with all of its components

RE: ETABS Import Problem

Yeah still didn't work. Any other fixes?

RE: ETABS Import Problem

Export your DXF using version Autocad2000 (See Autocad/Option/Saving)
Retry to import your dxf

RE: ETABS Import Problem

DWG files should work though?

RE: ETABS Import Problem

Have they fixed this bug in the 2015 version?

RE: ETABS Import Problem

(OP)
2015 works fine for me. i think 14 will work too so long as u install all the components

RE: ETABS Import Problem

Still getting this error in ETABS 2015. Does it need to be a certain AutoCAD file? As in 2007, 2010, 2014 etc?

Do DXFs work better?

RE: ETABS Import Problem

I have the same issue.
I tried with several versions of autocad, doesn't work.

RE: ETABS Import Problem

You need to have a full version of Autocad installed locally on your PC in order to be able to import DWG's direct into ETABS.

if you dont, then your only option is to use a DXF.

RE: ETABS Import Problem

if the file will be imported is already open. You can take this messages.
1-save in DXF format
2-close the file
3-than import
