May a quirk, stupid question:
what is the story behind the change from nx7.5 to nx8 limited to 14 in nx8.

It was changed in NX 8.0 because it was incorrect in previous versions of NX. Even if you had set it to 16, the maximum number of decimal places displayed in a listing window was 14.

So the only real change was correcting the Customer Default dialog.

BTW, even in NX 7.5, if you had gone to...

Preferences -> User Interface -> General

...and tried to enter either 15 or 16 in the 'Information Window' entry for 'Displayed Decimal Places', it would have reverted to 14 anyway, since that was the actual maximum.
