Minimum qualified it's 10mm, 403.6 asme IX. Ok, but maximun it's T+6mm like Asme b31.3 tab. 323.3.1 A-5 or 2T like QW451????

Thanks a lot!!

For realistic pipe weld qualification, you need to do the 45 degree angle 6G (all-position) weld.

You cannot use a flat plate horizontal (or vertical) joint if you are going to weld pipe, regardless of wall thickness.

Usually, you must qualify the way you will be welding: root pass GTAW and cover passes SMAW is frequently called out, but that may not be valid for your company and your skill set.

What diameter pipe are you going to use?

racookpe,
It is perfectly acceptable to use plate to qualify a pipe welding procedure.

QW-210 PREPARATION OF TEST COUPON
QW-211 Base Metal
The base metals may consist of either plate, pipe, or
other product forms. Qualification in plate also qualifies
for pipe welding and vice versa. The dimensions of the
test coupon shall be sufficient to provide the required test
specimens.

Maurijr,
You use the range listed in ASME B31.3 - the construction code requirements always takes precedence over ASME IX.
I have posted an interpretation on this forum that confirms this if you do a search,
Cheers,
DD

What is the fluid service? B31.3, high pressure service is more limiting on the material side. If I remember correctly, the procedure has to be qualified for the specific material specifications being joined.
