Safety Topics and Creative Approaches

Safety Topics and Creative Approaches

(OP)
It's common to see many companies fall into the routine of repeating the same safety mantra week after week to meet company requirements without giving it much thought. Safety topics are often very broad and not particularly applicable to the type of work seen on a daily basis by employees. Safety departments may exist, but they're not as familiar with the type of work and the risks that are encountered in the field.

What are some of the more interesting approaches that you have seen for having a consistent impact on employees?

For those of you who work in substations, what are some risk factors encountered on a regular basis that are not discussed as often as they should be? Topics such as step/touch potential, fall protection, and safety around moving vehicles are often discussed. What are some things you watch out for, but many others who work on substations, T&D lines, or other equipment may not be aware of?

Thank you.

RE: Safety Topics and Creative Approaches

Other concerns that we have seen recently are, unmarked underground feeders (I don't know why the locators did not locate them), Customers placing piles of stuff in the right-of-way (this viloates the clearance of the line), bad drivers and proxemity of the road to the substation. Fall concerns during digging projects, and digging into envirmental problems that were previsouly unknown.

Give me some time I will come up with more.
