316H Thermal Expansion Coefficient
316H Thermal Expansion Coefficient
(OP)
I need to find out what Thermal Expansion Coefficient for 316H is at 800 egrees Celsius.
Also what other Stainless steels can run at these temps?? No stress environment.
Thanks

RE: 316H Thermal Expansion Coefficient
Im not sure if 316H is a good material to choose at such temperatures (regardless of the service and service conditions (like pressure).
Refer to API 571 para. 4.2.6, Sigma Phase Embrittlement.
RE: 316H Thermal Expansion Coefficient
For ref: all in C, cte in 10e-6/C
0-315 6.2
0-540 17.5
0-650 18.5
0-815 20.0
So for 650-815 the average cte is 25.9 e-6/C
This is very large.
Because of Sigma and other issues you might be better off looking at a Ni alloy.
Maybe start with 625.
