Dear all,

what is the advantage of using metal spraying process w.r.t weld overlay.

regards,

RE: advantage of metal spraying over weld overlay

Productivity, avoidance of PWHT and minimisation of metallurgical interaction imperfections. Corrosion performance might not be comparable though.

Little to no distortion of the component.

RE: advantage of metal spraying over weld overlay

If it a low temp application and you can use a sealer then the corrosion performance of metal spray is pretty good.
There are numerous metallization processes, they cover a wide range of materials and performance.
Be careful about lumping them together.
Under very high loads or impacts weld overlay would be preferred.
