Slot on curved tube

Slot on curved tube

Slot on curved tube

(OP)
Hi,
which it's the best method to create a slot on curved tube that is normal to the surface ?
Imagine to have a straight tube, add a slot mill and curve the tube.
Mechanical routing license I don't have.
I thought two approaches, but before to start to add feature I want your ideas.

Thank you...

Using NX 8 and TC9.1

RE: Slot on curved tube

1. use curve on surface or intersect or whatever means you like to get your slot path on the tube surface
2. use a law extension by 'face', with a symmetric opposite side extension
3. thicken law extension surface to create the 'tool'
4. round off tool ends with 3 sided face blend
5. subtract from tube
