Water Line Specification for 3-Way Fire Hydrants

In a project I'm working on I have preliminarily specified a 3-Way Fire Hydrant rated at 250 psig max working pressure and 500 psig static test pressure. I have specified this because the county has a fire engine. The line in the system is currently SDR 26 PVC and rated for 160 psig. Could the existing line potentially see high pressure due to the fire engine that would cause line failure? Thanks.

If the fire department does not follow the typical operating procedures, it is possible that the improper procedures may cause a water hammer that could possibly break the pipe. What are you worried about?

Was just curious what is the size of the incoming piping, and what kind of maximum flow will come though in testing or future service?
