While performing Response spectrum Analysis in SAP2000. In addition to specifying the Modal damping ratio and Function damping ratio, is it required to define material damping? (in material properties)

Only modal damping is required for linear analysis

Pico, the CSI Knowledge Base article is clear that both modal damping AND function damping should be specified, not just modal damping.

I believe the material damping in material properties definition is optional and used only for additional damping if you have different materials with significantly different material damping between different materials.
