Dear all,

we have received a seismic spec from one of our client as 7balls , measured 5.7 for the site location.

what is this 7 balls means, what is the equivalent pga for this spec.

awaiting your replies

thanks

RE: seismic intensity values

Seen it before... It is an obscure unit from India or Russia. I don't believe there is a precise equivalent.

If I remember right it is a Mercalli style scale and is not used directly in design.

Have you tried Google?

RE: seismic intensity values

Memory did indeed serve....

Found that EQ measurement in "balls" is the Russian Medvedev scale, abbreviated MSK.

Did a search for:
msk scale ball

And there are many, many, many seemingly useful results. Good luck!
