Heat exchanger effectiveness

(OP)
Hi,

can anybody help if i heat exchangers effectiveness is closer to 1 does this make it more efficient, for example a heat exchanger with a effectiveness of 0.8 is more efficient than one with 0.7 effectiveness???

RE: Heat exchanger effectiveness

Hi
Are you working on bare tube, fin-tube or other calculation?

RE: Heat exchanger effectiveness

doesn't manufacturer have some tables of different fluids passed through the heat exchanger? Btw, getting very close to 100% efficiency would require a substantial amount of distance traveled by both fluids. It may be more important to look at what temperature you need your fluids to be at upon exit from the exchanger

RE: Heat exchanger effectiveness

some plate & frame HX's are close to 1.0 if they are not fouled. Review the references listed in 25362's post.
