Extending header/main through a building for additional risers?

Extending header/main through a building for additional risers?

(OP)
6" combined service into a large building, domestic takeoff, fire protection through a double check valve to a header with a few risers. Is it OK to take a 6" right off the header through the building to locate some more risers on the other side of the building?

RE: Extending header/main through a building for additional risers?

It should be ok as long as it is downstream of the double check valve and is sized for the flow/pressure requirements of the entire system per NFPA 13 and/or 14.

RE: Extending header/main through a building for additional risers?

Would suggest do it after the flow switch or add a flow switch shortly after the tee

In care there is a leak/ break between the tee and the added riser

RE: Extending header/main through a building for additional risers?

Yeah. Make sure you are after the double check valve. As mentioned above, I would have a flow switch on the bulk piping just to monitor for large leaks. Just consider it insurance or something.

I'm assuming both buildings are on the same property - correct?
