Hello I am new to the site and have a question ,

I have a Prince two spool valve rd522gcga5a4b1 25 gal max 1/2 working port in
I also have a Nortrac cylinder bore 5 inch stroke 30 inch shaft 2.25 with 1/3 inch ports

what can I expect for a time from closed to open position on the ram with a 25 gallon two stage hydraulic pump and how can I get that speed to increase to approx. 3 seconds or a 5 or 6 second cycle fully out to fully closed
yes this is on a wood splitter .

Please explain in layman's terms I am not a hydraulic person by any means Thank you so very much

How fast does your engine go?

I will provide the engine I need to accomplish the task I do not have an engine as yet .

RE: please help with this

piston displacement to extend = piston area x stroke
231 cubic inches = 1 gallon

piston displacement to retract = (piston area - rod area) x stroke
what is the rod diameter?

How fast do you want to extend? At the same flow rate, retract will be faster than extend time.

Two stage pump? Rapid no-load piston speed, slower loaded piston speed. What are the two pump displacements, cu. in. per rev.? What part of the stroke is no-load? What part of the stroke is loaded?

Ted

the out stroke will be loaded the return will be unloaded the specs on the rod are 2.25 all the specs are in the post , with the exception of motor size . I will size motor to achieve desired results , as I read it I will need a motor to turn at 3000 per minute .

RE: please help with this

For an input flow of 29.1gpm your extend time will be 5.2 sec, your retract time will be 4.1 sec. Assuming your engine can hold 3000rpm at load. It probably will not.

Thank you ted now all I have to do is size the pulleys to keep pump at 300 with enough torque also so it will not stall engine

RE: please help with this

It's not a good idea to run pumps with drive belts, it puts excessive side load on the front bearing.

Either install a PTO or get a torque adaptor.
