Where Should I start ?

Where Should I start ?

Where Should I start ?

(OP)
Hi everyone ,

I'm currently studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering, first grade,in Turkey.
While I'm searching engineering forums in Google,I found this website but I do not mostly understand these threads.I'm beginner and where should I start ?

Best regards,

RE: Where Should I start ?

Read lots; there's more than a decade's worth of topics here. Don't ask any questions related to homework or other school projects (those can get people kicked off the site). FAQ238-1287: What are good references for a Power Engineer? can lead to many months worth of valuable reading material.

RE: Where Should I start ?

When you say "I do not mostly understand these threads" - it is probably because the topics here are very specific and not at all about basic circuit theory.

Don't let that put you off. Dig into the basic matter like Ohm's and Kirchoff's laws, Complex numbers and frequency analysis etcetera. And make sure that you do some apprenticeship to learn about the reality. Soon enough (after a few years, accept that), you will be familiar with the topics discussed here and gradually you will turn into a skilled engineer.

If you try to be an engineer too quickly, you will never be one.

RE: Where Should I start ?

Hello beeeb2828,

First of all welcome to the club. Please do no give up on us and leave Electrical Engineering. Our kind of work brakes up into different Categories, and Categories within Categories. So right now you are just taking general electrical classes. See which ones you take are interest for the next few semesters/quarters. You will then decide what field of electrical engineering you want to go into. I agree with Skogsgurra, you must look for apprenticeship program or internship program. It will save you a lot of time in finding a job and you will gain job training and see how it really works.

Once you choose your field of studies look at some Standards like the IEC, NOC, etc...

Best Regards

RE: Where Should I start ?

PS I mean NEC Standards...LOL although the NOC does have standards of their own.
