Basic aluminum weldment standard

Basic aluminum weldment standard

Gents,

I have an aluminum weldment that isn't structural per my definition of structural...it doesn't hold anything up or have a way of failing catestrophically, etc.

So that said, is there something other than AWS D1.2 I should refer to? I'm struggling to find something while googling.

Thanks,

Mike

RE: Basic aluminum weldment standard

The Farm Code 2002 may meet your needs. You should be able to Google it.

Best regards - Al

RE: Basic aluminum weldment standard

I couldn't find it when I used Google, but I did find it here. You'll need to follow the thread until you see it listed as an pdf attachment. Enjoy. Try this link,

RE: Basic aluminum weldment standard

That one went straight into my digital library - thank you very much gtaw...
I can't wait to see the faces of my clients, next time they ask a similar question, and I'll take out this code and present them the answer.

RE: Basic aluminum weldment standard

I refer to it on a regular basis.

I am happy you enjoyed the humor.

I appreciate the help...errrr, yeah.

GTAW
I laughed my ass off over farm code 2002.
It looks very similar to a code marked " Redneck Welding"
B.E.

You are judged not by what you know, but by what you can do.

RE: Basic aluminum weldment standard

It is about due for a revision.

Best regards - Al

So is your point there is no standard defining welding aluminum for weldments that are not structural?

RE: Basic aluminum weldment standard

gtaw....beats the hell out of most code documents!
