ViewPortLayer ; am I dumber than usual?

ViewPortLayer ; am I dumber than usual?

ViewPortLayer ; am I dumber than usual?

(OP)
Using V1R5, Fedora version, under CentOS 6.5, latest.
No issues of any kind were reported at installation.

I've produced a simple 2D model in model space, and went to paperspace tab1 to produce a drawing of one of the parts. ... for which purpose only two of half a dozen layers need be visible.

In two hours of beating on VIEWPORTLAYER, I've managed to freeze exactly one layer in that tab.

How am I holding my tongue wrong?

RE: ViewPortLayer ; am I dumber than usual?

Hi Mike,

Maybe I'm not completely understanding this, but did you try the freezing the layers using the drop down menu of the layers toolbar? I know that that freezes the layer in both mspace and pspace, but for the purposes of printing a drawing it may work.

Best,
Medeski

No; I'll do that as a last resort, of course.

What I want is to freeze most layers in each viewport, so that I can generate in paper space in each tab a drawing of just one of the multiple parts represented in model space on a different layer per part. ... exactly like VPLAYER does in AutoCAD.

Part of the problem may be that the mouse response is severely delayed on my old laptop. I could swear the prior release, or the one prior to that, was much less aggravating in that respect.

RE: ViewPortLayer ; am I dumber than usual?

Hi Mike,

I was able to get it to work for me. I copy pasted the command prompt. The first 3 lines were automatically generated when I double clicked inside the viewport to get from pspace to mspace. Does it still seem like a lag issue?

Yeah, I get prompts like that, but it doesn't seem to recognize the layer names most of the time, whether specified singly, with commas, or by wildcard (layer_name*).

Also, the cursor in the graphics field lags the computer's cursor by a couple of seconds, and it seems to have a predilection for a 'box select' instead of a single click to select what's in the target box.
