Device to pre-configure desired amount of litres to be pumped?
Device to pre-configure desired amount of litres to be pumped?
(OP)
Hi,
I hope this is the right place to ask my question and that you guys can help me. I would appreciate any help. Here's the thing: I regulary transfer large amounts (0-1,000 litres) of ethanol into plastic containers using electric pumps (like this one) where I work. I'm looking for a way to prevent overflow damage (ethanol is very pricey), which sometimes happens when I go about my things and forget my pumping (the ethanol just pours out of the plastic container and floods the floor until I notice what's happening and come running to shut the pump off).
I was thinking about purchasing some kind of device that might help prevent this overflow damage. Can anyone please tell me if there is some kind of electronic device that can be installed on an electric pump, which has the option to configure a desired amount of litres to be pumped, and then deactivates the pump once the desired amount is reached?
Thanks very much for any help!
David

RE: Device to pre-configure desired amount of litres to be pumped?
These are very common in truck loading but also multiple other industries where batch loading occurs. Most provide a signal to slow the flow down as it reaches the preset limit, then a final shutoff signal to a valve and can be linked to turn the pump off as well
Something like this http://www.lcmeter.com/en/Products/Accessories/Acc...
Pouring ethanol over the floor sounds rather hazardous to me, never mind the effect of the fumes so the sooner you fix it the better...
My motto: Learn something new every day
Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way
