Grease Duct - Horizontal

Grease Duct - Horizontal

Grease Duct - Horizontal

(OP)
I understand that NFPA 96 doesn't prohibit running grease duct horizontally, but there are many issues with horizontal grease duct, such as:
1) Duct cleaning
2) Duct sagging over the time and creating low points where grease will collect
3 During the cleaning process sprinkler heads get damaged by a cleaning solution blast etc...

Have you experienced any other issues with horizontal grease ducts? Do you tend to minimize horizontal runs or limit them to certain distance?

RE: Grease Duct - Horizontal

Under international mechanical code , and allowed with stipulations

Problem: Proper clean out covers

RE: Grease Duct - Horizontal

We prohibit them in my jurisdiction.
