Body/face colour change within an assembly
Body/face colour change within an assembly
(OP)
Hi,
I have an assembly in which all the parts are required to have the correct colour and appear as the would in real life. I'm using Edit Object Display > Face Filter > Change colour to modify the face colour to whatever each part requires, but I wish to keep all of the body colours in 'Light Hard Pink'. This has worked perfectly for every part in the assembly, except for one. The part consists of a single cylinder with no other features.
NX tells me that the body colour is pink and the face colour is grey, as I intended, but the part appears with pink faces in the assembly, and I can't get it to change. Can anyone offer any help?
Many thanks
Rhys

RE: Body/face colour change within an assembly
So try this...
While in the Assembly select the Cylinder component that you're having problems with, press MB3, select 'Properties' and in the 'General' tab check to see if the 'Specific Component Color' option is toggled ON. If so, toggle it OFF and hit OK. The Component should now revert back to the actual color(s) of the part file.

Thanks for the reply. I had already toggled specific component colour off, but I realised I had been modifying the colour with the part set as Work Part, rather than Displayed Part. Finally got it to work - don't know why I didn't spot that sooner.
Thanks

is there a place to set this option in the Customer Defaults, any assembly part(s) that i bring in reverts back to a default colour in the preferences tab. i'm using NX8.

sorry i guess what i was getting at is when i import a component into my work part, that component will change its colour to what is set in the preferences tab. i was hoping that there was some way for the component to retain its colours upon import. this is what i'm having trouble to find.

Preferences -> Color Palette...
...and in the Options section of the dialog you will need to Open a new Color Defintion File or switch to whatever is the current default and then save the part file.
