wood screw values for structural panels to main members

Does anyone know where I can find load tables for wood screws for fastening structural paneling to main member lumber? The NDS gives values for nails but not for wood screws.

Thank you.

RE: wood screw values for structural panels to main members

you're probably going to have to get published values from the specific manufacturer.

If you're looking for withdrawal values, they are listed in Table 11.2B in the NDS. If you are looking for lateral values, they are listed in Table 11L and 11M.

"fegenbush," those values are for sawn lumber and Structural Composite Lumber (LVL's, PSL's, etc.) Tables 11Q and 11R are for structural panel side members, but it's for nails only.

RE: wood screw values for structural panels to main members

Maybe the NDS doesn't recommend standard wood screws because the tapered head crushes into the first ply of the panel?

RE: wood screw values for structural panels to main members

I would see if Simpson has any values on their screws. Thats where I would start.

Actually section 11.1.1 of the NDS states that all the tables are for Sawn, SGL, SCL, I-Joists and wood structural panels.

Some manufacturers will likely have ICC-ES Reports on their products, for use/design and code acceptance purposes. Go to a good construction hardware supply house, with known suppliers, rather than a big box store buying from China, and ask for data and reports. Try Fastenal, they have darn near everything in the way of fasteners. There are so many variations, materials, sizes, etc., that there would be no way NDS could tabulate them. The same thing has happened with the bastardization of nails. We used to know what spikes and nails were, but now there are a million variations.
